BacklinkDog (“we”, “us”, “our”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how we handle it.
What We Collect
- Account data:
- Your email address (used for login, alerts, and occasional product updates).
- If you sign in with Google or GitHub OAuth, we receive basic profile information (name, email, profile ID). We do not access anything else from your accounts.
- Payment data: Payments are processed securely by Polar.sh (which uses Stripe). We never see or store your full payment details.
- Backlink data: URLs you add to be monitored, plus crawl results (to detect changes such as link removals).
- Logs & analytics: IP addresses, browser data, and general usage analytics via PostHog and our self-hosted Umami instance.
How We Use Data
- To provide the backlink monitoring service.
- To send alerts and account-related emails.
- To improve our product through analytics.
- To send occasional updates about BacklinkDog (you can opt out anytime).
Service Providers
We use trusted third parties to operate BacklinkDog:
- Hosting: Netcup (servers in the EU).
- Email delivery: Zoho Mail, Resend, AWS SES.
- Payments: Polar.sh / Stripe.
- Authentication: Google and GitHub (OAuth login).
- Analytics: PostHog (cloud) and Umami (self-hosted).
These providers only process data on our behalf and under strict confidentiality agreements.
Data Sharing
We do not sell or rent your data. Data is only shared with the providers listed above, to the extent necessary to run the service.
Data Retention & Deletion
You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by emailing [email protected]. We will delete your data unless we are required to keep it for legal or billing reasons.
Your Rights
